Homeless Glamping Nomads

Yes we are alive, and yes this is our tent, inflatable couch and all.

We have come in to town to check email n things. We are sitting outside the closed public library in the car using their free internet.

We are staying at a beautiful wooded site, on a creek near the mountains. Our first 3 nights have been smooth. We will stay here at least 3 or 4 more nights as we try to get the hang of things.

We are very fortunate to have glamping gear for our newfound homelessness. Even Cricket is enjoying the hell out of it.

I’m happily devouring Sylvia Plath’s “The Bell Jar” and will likely start it over once I’ve finished it. How have I not picked this book up before, it came out it 1963…….where have I been?

I’m gradually becoming friends with the insta pot. We made a green curry that was quite edible and some oatmeal with apples, cranberries and walnuts. I’ve also decided it makes a great place to do the dishes. They come out steamy, just like a dishwasher.

I much prefer the old fashioned method and Jase makes for some great scenery.

Well, that’s it for now, I hope everyone is well! We must get back as Cricket is back at the homestead and is bound to be hosting a kegger with the woodland creatures.

  1. So good to see how you are doing! And yes, the view of Jase is quite lovely indeed. 😉
Do you have electricity where you are glamping? or are you using the battery power?
I must check out that book! Have you ever read How To Be Sick, but Toni Bernard…I hope I spelled her name right? It’s Buddhist inspired, but not Buddhist..if that made sense. It kinda changed my life. Stuart’s god mother LOVES her instant pot, I don’t have one, I was really thinking about getting one, until I read your review….hahahaha! Of course, since Stuart lost his job there will be no purchases any time soon anyway.
What part of the country are you in, it looks cold.
    It’s so hot here, I can’t imagine.
Good luck sweetie! Thinking about you!

    • Hi Wendy 🙂 We have a generator and a battery pack. We are in Colorado and working on heading toward warmer temps. So cold! We have a propane heater for the tent.
I will check out that book, thank you 🙂 Hugs to you! xoxox

      • Oh wow! Duh, I didn’t think about a generator. I’m glad you have that!
I can’t imagine cold weather right now. It was 102 here today! I’m in Tucson, AZ. Lots of Colorado people come here for the winter. Snowbirds. 😊
You might not want to be this warm. 😉
        But it’s a great winter!!
        Hugs and love! xoxo

  2. I have a whole new perspective on homelessness. Seriously, this tent is nicer than many houses I’ve seen! You’re starting a new trend, as I think it will start to catch on. Kinda like tiny homes and living off of the land without spending money. You’re definitely into something. I highly recommend writing a book if you have the time.

Speaking of going frugal, I’ve been selling stuff locally and I made my first gift card doing surveys last month. It’s helping me pay for my morning caffeine fix. Literally the highlight of my day is going to Tim Hortons next door but it adds up going there everyday! I can’t recreate the steeped tea at home… trust me, I tried. So now these side hustles are helping to sustain this habit. Anything that doesn’t break the bank is a win, I say!

    • Hi Hilary! I’m glad you’ve found a way to keep your Tim Horton addiction going 😉
We are certainly learning a lot being out here. It’s much different than packing for a weekend camping trip. We have both cars filled. A work in progress for sure! Thank you for stopping by, always a treat to hear from you 🙂

      • Speaking of steeped tea addiction, I’m currently drinking one right now as I’m reading your reply! Good morning! ☀️

It sounds like you are doing well with the glamping life/camping gear. And the weather is getting nicer so that’s definitely a win! Where do you live? Here in Canada, it’s still pretty cool outside. Not hot or cold, but not summer weather yet.

      • Good morning! We are in Colorado, we packed up yesterday to head for warmer temps. We are currently sitting in a shitty hotel as we had a rough day and needed to regroup. I’m playing catch up as quickly as I can!!! 🙂

      • I’ve only been to the Colorado airport for a layover so I can’t really say that I’ve been to Colorado. I’m north of you… and up here in the north, it gets cold. You would hate camping in Canada because it’s either too cold or it’s raining. We’ve had a few warm, sunny days but they’re far and few in between.

  3. That is a seriously impressive set up that you’ve got going on.
I’m glad that you were able to pop on here and give us an update. I’ve been thinking/worrying about you so I’m glad to know you’re okay

    • Hi V! 🙂 thank you for checking in, we are doing ok. Lot’s to learn that’s for sure. I hope you are well, it’s been yucky not being able to read your posts. Hoping to get caught up at some point. Hugs to you V xoxoxo

  4. I loved hearing your update! Your camp looks fab. Glad the instapot is proving multi-functional and meals have improved.😊 I read The Bell Jar in my 20’s and it was a favorite of mine for years. I must reread it.
